Friday 14th (Day 1) - Youth Development Day

On Friday, youth archers from across NSW came to Armidale Archers for a Youth Development Day.
Initially this involved Barry Parker - NSW Youth Coordinator - acting as DOS for everyone to check their sight settings. This was a great opportunity for everyone to make sure they were prepared for the upcoming shoots and check their equipment. After everyone had arrived, Dennis Carson - Armidale Archers Coaching Coordinator - gave everyone some information on field shooting. This included the order of shooting, how to shoot on angles, how to score, explaining the terrain and later let those interested try a challenging angled shot he had set up. After this Ella-Rose set up a fun shooting game for everyone to play. How it worked was everyone got a playing card and had to memorise it (and not tell anyone what they got), they were then put all over the target at 20m. Everyone got to shoot one arrow per round trying to shoot anyone's card but their own. Once someone's card was shot they were out! The winner was Jamie and Josie's Dad - Matt Hatch. Following shooting we had a BBQ that was lots of fun. It included karaoke, dancing, singing, a good feed and great company. |

Saturday 15th (Day 2) - Field Round 1
This event was not only the Armidale Archers Youth Spirit Event, but it was also the first event of the new NSW YOUTH SERIES for 2022. Due to this, after practise we had a small ceremony including some words from Barry, explaining the rules of the series and the point system. This was followed by cutting the ribbon by Ella-Rose in honour of the start of the series. To conclude muster, Ella-Rose read out the shooting groups and directed them all to their starting target.

Saturday evening we all went to Armidale City Bowling Club for dinner. It was great to see everyone outside of an archery environment.

Sunday 16th (Day 3) - Field Round 2
On Sunday, archers shot the field again in attempt to improve their scores from round 1.
After this, we had a presentation - awarding places by the addition of the scores over the two days.
